Grappling with Cloning

March 7, 2002 07:56 PM

While America continues to grapple with its fear of human cloning, China is making giant leaps forward.

Lately, I've been thinking about what I would do if I were president. In the spirit of JFK's space race, I would create a race to clone the first human. The Hollywood elite is on my side, so I must be right!

To think of the future lives that will be lost as this administration's myopia on cloning continues day after day is even more horrifying than it is embarassing. Sure, George, you may not want society to "grow life to destroy it", but would growing life to save life still be "morally wrong"? Take a vacation from your pew one Sunday morning and visit the 5th floor at the UVa Hospital. Then we can talk about morality.

We have mastered the destruction of human life, let us now master its creation.
