Provigil is a new drug that keeps people awake, with no apparent side effects. Many are nervous about prescribing this for anything other than sleep disorders. I don't see what the big deal is. Right now, people are taking stimulants - caffeine and amphetamines - to stay awake, and those have all sorts of side effects. If people want or need to stay awake, they're going to use whatever's available to them. If there's something safer than what people are already using, let's unleash it and put dear old Starbucks outta business. Ah, sleep, we hardly knew ye.
