The child tax credit was yanked, the Hummer deduction emerged unscathed, and the wealthy will likely end up paying lower tax rates than those who work for a living. Less money for government, more money for corporations.

Just in case you haven't been paying attention, Bush is doing his damnedest to cause a financial meltdown in the federal government. This will force dramatic cutbacks in Social Security and Medicare, something no politician could ever do directly.

The question is not whether the tax cuts will stimulate the economy, but whether we want Social Security and healthcare for the poor and elderly.
