Patriotism, Treason, and Ignorance

July 5, 2003 3:11 AM

Gary Hart rips into the Ann Coulters:

What is there about right-wing conservatism that demands to decide who is and who is not an American? It’s beyond arrogance. If it weren’t so dangerous it would be laughable. Who do these people think they are? Where is Patrick Henry when we need him? He’d go right down their throats.

There is an argument to be made for ignoring the ignorant, not giving them the satisfaction of recognition. But silence at some point of absurdity becomes acquiescence. And if someone accuses me of treason, they better be prepared to defend themselves –- however ignorant they are.

The new breed of Republicans is very Communist-like in its quest for ideological purity.

Regular American:

Ted Kennedy is universally hated by the men and women in the armed forces. they claim his vile words are causing them much harm. Ted Kennedy is aiding and abetting the enemy, and if you can't see that then you are a brain-washed quasi-socialist puke.
Have a nice day, and pack your stuff up and move to Yemen if you hate it here so much.

Fortunately, you have no life to dedicate to getting Bush out of office. John Kerry is exactly who Osama Bin Laden, Kim Jong Il, and the Iranian Mullahs want to be elected....think about that a little.

harold:

perhaps you forget, we have created our enemys. ho che mein, osama, saddom, so forth and so on. mabey if we would quit screwing everyone else so a handful can get richer and allow people real freedom, the freedom to chose the life you wish and live that life with out persicution, we wouldn't have to worry about another 9/11. they don't hate us, or how we live or believe, they hate what we do to them, as would you all, if the tables were turned. you forget, we have the best terrorist training camp in the world. the school of the americas, the folks who brought you the south american death squads. two partys is just one party away from communism.
