In an unprecedented move, Howard Dean is asking his supporters to vote on whether the campaign should forego federal matching funds. He lays out the pros and cons on his blog.

A year ago, who would have thought I could ever write those two sentences.

As the opposition ratchets up the attacks, don't lose sight of the fact that this is the most important political campaign this country has ever seen.

We will win.

I think it's a no-brainer. The goal is to defeat Bush, and we'd be naive to think we can do that with a fraction of the money he will have. So we should vote to forego federal matching funds and raise as much money as possible.
