Kerry threatens democracy! Steals the Gertrude Stein Democratic Club endorsement!

February 10, 2004 8:28 AM

Zachary Roth at CJR notices a bit more Kerry dirt this morning:

Glenn Reynolds links to a story in The Tehran Times (which wins him points right off the bat) that reveals a strange email supposedly sent by Kerry’s office to an Iranian news agency, promising to repair the damage done to U.S.-Iran relations if he’s elected president. If this is real, here’s a memo to the Kerry campaign: Last we checked, Iranians don’t get to vote here (or anywhere, actually).

And a poster on The Daily Kos reports that Kerry supporters “stole” the endorsement of Washington DC’s Gertrude Stein Democratic Club, by using an obscure by-law to reconvene the meeting after everyone had left, and voting to endorse their man. The Gertrude Stein Democratic Club? Now it’s really in the bag.

Weak, yes I know. But someone's gotta post the Kerry dirt, dammit! And that headline is a joke.

Anybody ever read HOW Kerry won his Silver Star? I mean a detailed accounting and not a glossy one line blurb? I have never found any details on a single Pro-Kerry site but the Anti-Kerry sites describe it in great detail. To get a "Fair and Balanced" accounting please let me know where a nuetral or even a Pro Kerry site describes this moment in history.

If the Anti Kerry sites are correct(?) (Vietnam Veterans Against John Kerry for instance) a soldier in Iraq would be court martialed for the same actions - not rewarded. Executing enemy wounded does not you get you the Silver Star in today's army.

the answer man:

February 28, 1969:
Kerry and his boat crew, coming under attack while patroling in the Mekong Delta, decide to counterattack. In the middle of the ensuing firefight, Kerry leaves his boat, pursues a Viet Cong fighter into a small hut, kills him, and retreives a rocket launcher. He is awarded a Silver Star.

You dumb fuck Kerry never came under fire that soldier he saved fucking fell off while he was eating because Kerry accelerated too fast and then Kerry shot an unarmed Vietnamese soldier who was running away from him.
