Bush did well with his base, but Kerry clearly won the middle. Image-wise, Kerry looked far more presidential and composed.

:95 Even Bill Kristol is grudgingly admitting that Kerry did very well in FNC's post-show analysis.

:97 Yes indeed. Kerry kicked ass.

:98 Mort Kondracke: Bush looked tired and annoyed.

:99 Ceci Connolly brought up the point I mentioned that on the split screen, Kerry filled the shot and made Bush look smaller.

:118 Fred Barnes: "Kerry looked like the Commander in Chief" -- AMEN!

:125 Hysterical! Karen Hughes and Sean Hannity are furiously trying to spin this for Bush. It looks like Karen's head is going to explode.

Hughes was very good, almost robotic, in staying on message when NBC cut to her for a secondary Republican response post-debate.
