Napster is officially dead.

Napster dramatically changed the media business and wreaked havoc on the recording industry. Napster's impact will be felt for many years to come as the war continues between the rights of consumers and the money obsessed corporate labels. As artists like Prince continue to become disenfranchised with their record labels, they are looking at file sharing in a whole new way. A marketing vehicle that puts them in control of their careers. This will take years to play out, but the writing is on the wall, and the proverbial genie is out of the bottle.

So, here's to Napster, and the death of a few more life sucking corporate dinosaurs.
