NY Times: The e-commerce and movie businesses seemed similar. Both required tremendous manpower, equipment and money, as well as highly complex tasks, all in a compressed time frame. We just applied our movie skills to the Web. Both businesses thrive on gossip and on people spewing opinions with great authority. The accumulated knowledge does not add up to much.
