Rumsfeld's rules

September 10, 2003 4:41 PM

Rumsfeld has a list of rules he wrote in 1974 while working in Ford's administration. My favorites:

"Remember the public trust. Strive to preserve and enhance the integrity of the office of the Presidency. Pledge to leave it stronger than when you came."

"It is easier to get into something` than out of it."

"The country cannot afford amateur hour in the White House."

More from the archive in Neocons, Quotes.
