HUGE Response to Uncovered!

November 3, 2003 10:30 PM

A couple of hours after the MoveOn email went out this morning about the movie, we got this email from Eli: "Fantastic response. We're closing in on $300K raised." That's 10,000 copies sold (as of 10 hours ago!) which will be "reinvested" in the MoveOn voter fund ad campaign that will be used in swing states to get the word out about Bush's lies.

Yeah!!! I'm really excited. Thank you everyone!!!

The Center for American Progress calls Uncovered, "The Film Fox Doesn't Want You to See."

Howard Kurtz from the Washington Post mentions that Fox wouldn't give us approval to use footage of Condoleeza Rice.

Here's what The Nation said today:

An explosive new documentary film offers far more proof, if any was still
necessary, that the Bush Administration's extremism is severely compromising America's national security interests. That's why Rand Beers, a National Security Council adviser to five Presidential Administrations, including those of Reagan and Bush 41, recently resigned in disgust as Bush's special counterrorism assistant.

You can hear Beers make his case in "Uncovered: The Whole Truth About the Iraq War," a sixty-minute documentary directed and produced by award-winning film-maker Robert Greenwald. "Uncovered" takes you behind the scenes, as outraged CIA, Pentagon and foreign service experts reveal the lies, misstatements and exaggerations employed by the Bush Administration in the run-up to war.

Featuring never-before-seen interviews with over 20 national security experts -- including former Ambassador Joe Wilson; ex CIA chief Stansfield Turner; weapons inspector David Albright; CIA operative Robert Baer; former Ambassador to Greece John Brady Kiesling, who resigned in protest against the invasion of Iraq, and The Nation's own David Corn --"Uncovered" is a compelling call to action in 2004.

Public screenings will be held across the country, including one hosted by AlterNet on November 19 in San Francisco. (Click here for more info.)

And in an unprecedented collaboration, Moveon.org, The Center for American Progress, The Nation, Alternet, Buzzflash and Working Assets are teaming up to promote sales of DVD copies to the public as inexpensively as possible.

Buy a copy and host your own screening. It's only $14.95, including shipping. Show it to friends, family, colleagues or students--at a school or community center, an American Legion Hall, a local library or a church, temple or mosque. Or ask your local chapter of the ACLU, the People for the American Way, IndyMedia, Students Against the War or Amnesty International to co-host a screening with you.

Putting this film on America's radar is a strong step in the process of fostering regime change in the United States.

Buzzflash did an interview with Robert:

I was deeply affected by the breadth of those who have spent years and years working for the government and feel it essential that they speak out. Ambassador Joe Wilson is a smart, tough critter. They messed with the wrong guy. He has all the skills of a diplomat and the instincts of a hit man. He knows how the game is played, and he took on Saddam. Now he is taking on the Bushies; he won't bend or cave or run for cover. We are lucky to have him on our side, the side of the true patriots.

Ray McGovern worked for the CIA for over 20 years. His duties included preparing the daily briefing for the president when he worked there. He is a library of information about what has gone on and what is going on. He is fearless in what he says and committed to getting the true story of how we were deceived out.

Bradley Kiesing was the first person to resign over the war. He has an articulate and nuanced world view and a profound understanding of how the politics of the Bush administration is causing long-term havoc for the U.S. throughout the world.

John Dean is a former Nixon aide who's famous for his role in Watergate and is currently a respected legal and political analyst. His analysis is from the point of view of someone who has been inside. His understanding of the legal implications as well as how the presidency serves to muffle dissenting voices provides important perspective.

David Albright, a scientist and a weapons inspector, is very well respected in all quarters. He is careful and reasoned, and he feels the misuse of the information is clear and "borders on propaganda." This is a man who has spent his life investigating weapons around the world, and his credibility is beyond question.

Those are just some of the people whom we interviewed in the documentary, but that should provide you with a good sense of the credibility of the individuals who bolster the case that this administration lied us into a war.

Spread the word! It only costs $14.95. They make great stocking stuffers for your clueless friends. Buy one and have a screening at your next meetup or party. Try this drinking game: Every time you see a liar on screen, DRINK! :)

Seriously, this project is a great example of how all of us, working together, will take down this Administration and send a message to the world that Americans will not tolerate imperialist leaders who invade other countries unprovoked.

Gordon Parlin:

The best movie I have seen in a long time. How can so many Americans hide their head in the sand and not see what is really happening??
