Re-enlist, or you're going to Iraq

September 17, 2004 11:44 AM

The 3rd Brigade Combat Team at Fort Carson in Colorado were given this choice by recruiters last week. Verified by multiple first-hand sources.

Soldiers are outraged, particularly those close to fulfilling their military obligations. One platoon refused to sign on. An anonymous sergeant: "I don't want to go back to Iraq. I went through a lot of things for the Army that weren't necessary and were risky. Iraq has changed a lot of people."

Thank you! They have served their country twice -- fulfilling their obligations when called to serve, and refusing to be intimidated when they find out they've been conned. We need more non-combat insubordination.

Paul:

I see so many ads these days encouraging young people to enlist in the military, and I truly feel sorry for anyone who is tricked into joining up. It's the last decision they'll be allowed to make for themselves for as long as they are in the military. When you're in the service, they own you.

Right Wing Robby:

I feel sorry for John Kerry who war tricked into fighting in vietnam. But he is proud of his service, or was he disgusted by the soldiers in vietnam? I am confused.
