Guardian: Outfoxed "has become a cult classic"

October 26, 2004 12:57 PM

Murdoch defended Fox News Channel at yesterday's annual meeting: "It's full of Democrats and Republicans, the others only have Democrats. We don't take any position at all. We're not in the least bit biased, we're a fair and balanced company."

The Guardian:

Mr Murdoch's comments will astonish critics of the notoriously right-wing television network, which was the subject of the controversial US documentary, Outfoxed: Rupert Murdoch's War on Journalism.

The film, which accused Fox News of abandoning traditional reporting values and ushering in an era of partisan news coverage, has become a cult classic, topping Amazon.com's list of bestselling DVDs.

Any news channel that says its Fair and Balanced is saying that because they know they're not. It's like Bush saying that he's making the right decisions for America over and over.

Quoting anything from the "Guardian" pretty much destroys one's credibility. Aren't these the same wild eyed anarchists that suggest assassination instead of an election? Now they have an opinion on fair & balanced?

Nolan:

Good point...If your network actually WAS "Fair and Balanced," you would NOT have to keep TELLING everyone how fair and balanced you are!!! Does Carmen Electra have to TELL everyone how hot she is? Of course not...she's just hot! If Fox was truly fair and balanced, people would notice and commend them...

Wild Eyed Anarchist:

Thanks for suggesting a great Blog name for myself. Hilarious one at that!

Not even the most rockhard right-wing neo-Con Republicans I know would dare state that FoxNews doesn't have an obvious conservative agenda.

I would also never expect Mr. Murdoch to admit his news network has a biased political agenda. No one is claiming that other networks don't sway one way or another. The thing with FoxNews is that it is so blatantly right-wing and they so vocally claim it is "fair and balanced" and "we report you decide" any chance they get.

Effective psychological approach, thankfully I think most people the ability to think indepedently (whether right or left wing) can see through it.

Hi
I have looked at your material.
You people are really out there.
If you think journalism in this counrty is anything but tripe you are really mentally challenged. I know this country is full of misguided people, I just cannot understand how someone that claims to be intellegent can say the things that are on this Blog.
