How to make sure government doesn't work

September 25, 2005 12:49 PM

Time Magazine highlights three more incompetent, yet politically connected, Bush appointees:

1. Scientists' drug-safety decisions at the FDA are being second-guessed by a 33-year-old doctor turned stock picker. (Scott Gottlieb)

2. At the OMB, an ex-lobbyist with minimal purchasing experience oversaw $300 billion in spending, until his arrest last week. (David Safavian)

3. At DHS... a well-connected White House aide with minimal experience is poised to take over what many consider the single most crucial post in ensuring that terrorists do not enter the country again (Julie Myers)

And then the article goes on to explain how Bush is stacking the deck of the office responsible for defending against fraud and abuse in the government.
