Insert ironic Garth Brooks song title here

December 1, 2005 12:02 PM

The very first day Garth Brooks' exclusive-to-Wal-Mart "limited edition" 6-CD box set for $25 went on sale, it sold half a million copies.

That's $12.5 million dollars. I have a hunch this "limited edition" just got a second printing.

UPDATE: Hours later, and I'm still reeling from the enormity of this. I think Garth Brooks (and the marketing god at Wal-Mart who came up with this scheme) are largely responsible for Wal-Mart's strong Black Friday numbers.

10 million people shopped at Wal-Mart that day.. Half a million of them walked away with 6 Garth Brooks CDs for $25.

More from the archive in Wal-Mart.

How about "And The Thunder Rolls" that's a good song from Garth Brooks.
