I'm wondering--would Wal-Mart hire its own Sushi chefs?
What self-respecting Sushi chef would want to be known for working at Wal-mart?

Wal-Mart, the only company that will outsource sushi making by hiring a Mexican to make it.

Why would you buy sushi from a mexican, let alone from wa-mart? That is not in good taste to even know that a person, white, black, etc... would be making this product in a supermarket, that isnt form that heritage!!!

I'd love to have Sushi prepared by a Mexican Sushi chef who learned from a master. I've certainly enjoyed sushi perpared by non-Japanese chefs.
...This is yet another case where you wouldn't want to buy the cheapest! Cheap labor isn't the panacaea neo-cons would have you believe!

Most sushi chefs in the states aren't even Japanese. A lot of times you'll find Koreans preparing sushi, but they also don't use the same standards as Japanese sushi chefs (particularly with respect to touching the fish and preparing the rice). I think Wal-mart will easily find sushi chefs that are as good as any chef sushi chef in America, which isn't saying much.
